About Preeority

Stop debating.
Start deciding.

Preeority makes prioritization systematic — for your own task lists and for whole teams. The method is the same: one comparison at a time.

What Preeority is

Preeority is a prioritization tool built around one insight: choosing between two things is easy — ranking a whole list is not. Whether you're clearing your own backlog or aligning a team of twelve, the method is the same.

Instead of scoring or debating, Preeority surfaces one pair at a time and asks a single question: which matters more right now? An Elo-based algorithm turns those answers into a ranked list. The result reflects genuine judgment — not the loudest voice, not a gut feeling.

The method: pairwise comparison

Ranking a long list is hard. Choosing between two options is easy. Preeority exploits this by showing exactly two items at a time and asking: which one matters more?

Responses are aggregated using an Elo-based algorithm — the same system used to rank chess players. Tasks that consistently beat others rise to the top. Tasks that lose sink. The result is a ranking that reflects collective judgment, not the loudest voice in the room.

A stability metric tracks how much the ranking is still changing. When it crosses a confidence threshold, you know you have enough data — no guessing required.

For individuals — the Focus Grid

Build task lists and organise them into contexts — Work, Personal, Side projects, whatever fits your life. Then run pairwise comparisons on your own: two tasks, one choice. Repeat until the ranking stabilises.

The Focus Grid is your daily dashboard. It shows every list in a context as a card, with the stability score, the current #1 task, and a single action. High-stability lists show “Focus” — drill in and work on what's ranked first. Low-stability lists show “Prioritize” — go do a few more comparisons before committing.

Daily to-dos

Keep a rolling personal backlog ranked by what actually matters — not by which task you added most recently.

Project backlogs

Solo projects move faster when you always know the single next thing to work on.

Goals and outcomes

Use pairwise comparison to surface which goals deserve your time this quarter.

Reading lists

Stop deciding what to read next based on how recently you bookmarked something.

For your team — the Workshop

A facilitator creates a session for a list of tasks, features, or ideas. Everyone in the room joins on their phone — no account required — and votes in rapid pairwise rounds. The ranking updates live on the facilitator's screen. When the order stops changing, you have your answer. The whole thing takes minutes, not meetings.

Sprint planning

Align the team on which backlog items to pull into the next sprint, without the usual scoring debate.

Roadmap decisions

Let stakeholders vote on feature priorities. Everyone's input counts equally.

Project kickoffs

Start a project with a shared understanding of what the team thinks is most important.

Retrospective actions

Prioritize which improvements to actually act on, so retros produce real change.
